I am writing from Vishakhapatnam, on the Bay of Bengal, India. Last night, Saturday, I preached to 14,000 Indians, the majority of whom are Hindus. History is being made here: This is the first evangelistic campaign to be held in a major city in this part of the world. Please understand that this is not a Christian culture — it is almost entirely PAGAN with a Moslem minority. Christians here are only 3% of the population. We all need your prayers.
The audience received me well. They were quiet and attentive from start to finish. Before the meeting we had no idea what would happen. It was possible, we had been warned, that a riot could take place. The Lord, however, had His mighty hand over these 14,000 souls, and all was quiet and peaceful.
We take each day, one day at a time. God has promised to supply our daily bread, and we ask not what the future holds. To do His will faithfully is all we ask.

It is Monday morning and I take up my pen again to write to you. The meeting last night (our second in the series) had more people than the first. 15,000 souls, mostly Hindus, occupied every seat in our outdoor stadium, and a wonderful spirit prevailed.

It is now Tuesday morning. The meeting last night was more than we had hoped for. We had been told that, inasmuch as it was a Monday night, we could expect a fall off in the attendance. The very opposite, however, took place. An extra thousand souls poured into the stadium, making an attendance of 16,000. At the conclusion of the meeting, I stood in awe and amazement at the power of God. The entire audience of 16,000 stood as I prayed in the name of Jesus. Please understand that the majority of these people are Hindus and Moslems. Hundreds stayed behind and requested us to lay hands on them in prayer. I have never seen anything like it before, not even in Russia.

It is now Thursday morning. (Whatever happened to Wednesday?) So far we have had more than 80,000 in attendance at the city meetings plus the crowds at the three village campaigns. Last night’s meeting was more than we could have hoped for. 18,000 packed the stadium, breaking all attendance records in the history of the city of Vishakhapatnam. At the conclusion of the message, I had an altar call, the first one here. The people, as one, moved forward. As I prayed for them, they prayed out loud with a voice like the sound of many waters. Our team stood amazed at the great power of God. Please, please pray for these souls, and for us.
What are the most urgent needs over here? Please allow me to share them with you.

YOUR PRAYERS that the mighty Spirit of God will hold back the powers of darkness. What we are doing here has not been done before. We are in a Hindu city, and inviting people to accept Christ can be extremely dangerous. Please pray that God will move upon the hearts of the city officials to allow the meetings to continue.
YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT, to provide Bibles, pastors, and churches. We literally need hundreds of thousands of dollars to continue this great work during these last hours of Earth’s history. Please give what you can to light a fire in the darkness of this vast land of 1,100,000,000 souls.
This letter is short because there is so little time to do all that must be done over here. Please pray and give. We are seeing many mighty miracles and you are helping to make them possible. Please write soon. You are God’s lifeline to these souls.
