Back

Dear Friend,

We have just returned from a preliminary, preparatory visit to El Salvador.  Where is El Salvador?  It is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America.  By jet, it lies 4 hours and 50 minutes south of Los Angeles.

It received independence from Spain in 1821, and Spanish remains the official language.  The culture is Roman Catholic and the people on the streets are thirsty for the Word of God.

It is a land that has known great suffering.  Between 1979 and 1981, about 30,000 people were killed by right-wing death squads.  The United States, fearing a Cuban type Communist take over, sided with the military junta.  In 1998, Hurricane Mitch devastated the country, leaving 200 dead and 30,000 homeless.  During 2001, a major earthquake destroyed about 20% of the nation’s housing.  An even worse disaster befell the country in the summer of that year when a drought from hell destroyed 80% of the nation’s crops.

Suffering has prepared the soul of El Salvador for Christ.  During our recent visit, we were impressed by the spiritual hunger of the people.  As we came into the country, the immigration officer asked us about our faith.  As team members met with contractors, conversations quickly turned to God and salvation.

Pastor Carter and his team in the National Football stadium

While in El Salvador, I spoke to 100 pastors who came together from all over the country.  On the Sabbath it was my privilege to preach the Gospel to 2,000 delegates who came from every Adventist Christian church scattered across the nation.  Their enthusiasm and evident sincerity touched my heart.

Pastor Carter teaching a group of pastors in El Salvador

Together we are planning 93 “missions” (evangelistic campaigns) across El Salvador.  Every pastor will be teaching God’s Word right across the nation.  The climax will occur with giant meetings in the National football stadium that the locals told me has a capacity for 60,000 souls.  This will happen during the last days of this month.

Our aim is 5,000 born-again, baptized souls.  The soil in El Salvador is good, ready for the seed of the Word.  Please partner with us.  Please pray for us.  If possible come with us.

We are safe when we are in His hands, doing His will.  Remember, the will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot keep you.

Please help me raise $750,000.00.  Please study the pictures and partner with me in this great Gospel outreach.  Time is running out. It is now November, and we have only days to go.  I am waiting to hear from you.  Please write today and do your best for Christ and souls.

With a thousand thanks.
May God bless you over and beyond all you can ask or think,
