There are 3 BIG QUESTIONS:
Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
Where am I going?
When old friends pass away, one gets a certain sense of one’s mortality. Even young people need beware. Recently, I was driving on a quiet street in Thousand Oaks where four high school students were killed in their dad’s Mercedes. Sooner or later, it happens to all, one way or another.
I believe we are here for a purpose. I believe there is an eternal home prepared for God’s Elect.
I believe in a place called Paradise because Jesus taught it.
I believe in Jesus, because He was the only person who claimed to be God who was judged sane by His contemporaries. He accepted worship and said He was the “I AM.” (See John 8:58 and Exodus 3:14) He told the Jews He was the Bread that came down from Heaven and if people believed and ate, they would live forever. We put people away who make claims like that today. Jesus was either the God-Man or a madman and the evidence is that He was no madman. Imagine anyone telling you he was “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6) Such claims by any one other than Christ would be evidence of insanity.
He was all He said He was, and that is the reason why you and I can believe in Heaven, BECAUSE HE TAUGHT IT.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3 KJV)
Life is more than this life. It is more than 20,40,60, or 80 years. This life is a preparation for an endless life in a better place. There will be no death there, and no cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or any of those dreadful sicknesses that cause so much sorrow. There will be no sin and consequently no crime, meanness, lying or heartache. It will be better than we can imagine.
So dear friend, there is reason for us to be hopeful and joyful. When the days are dark and dreary, it is good to remember that at the end of life’s journey there is a mansion filled with light, warmth and good things. Loved ones will be there, and best of all Jesus will be there.
So I write today, on a cloudy cold day, to remind you that “The best is yet to be.”
The world needs good news. One hardly takes a dose of the morning news as an antidepressant. The news about North Korea, Iran, and Syria is alarming. We therefore press the question, “IS THERE A WORD FROM THE LORD?”
There is. We are told by Christ to “GO INTO ALL THE WORLD, PREACH THE GOSPEL, AND MAKE DISCIPLES, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT.”
There is a Heaven, but this is our task, our responsibility, our calling. Heaven is to be shared.
Your prayers for and gifts to this ministry are truly making a difference, for time and eternity, in the lives of literally MILLIONS. Your gift will be sending the Gospel into someone’s home. I can personally tell you, I know of a man in New York City who was alienated from God and without hope in the world. Then just recently he received some of our DVDs and the light was turned on.
