Meet Juan. He lives in Communist Cuba. He is married to Ada. They have a little girl who is the sunshine of their lives. Cuba is not an easy place to call home. It is hot, humid, poor, and Communist. Those who think all political and social systems are of equal value have not visited Cuba. It is 80 miles from the USA, but a million miles from freedom. There are no free elections. There is no free press. There are no supermarkets with shelves groaning with goodies.

JUAN GOES 100 MILES A WEEK ON A BICYCLE

Juan is our man in Havana. He sang for our meetings when we ran our campaign there. He came with us to Russia recently. His strong voice as he sang with passion thrilled the Russians. He, on his part, was thrilled to eat more than rice and black beans, his daily fare back home in Castro country. He wants to be a minister of the Gospel. We are now sponsoring him at the Cuban Adventist Seminary. He is also pastoring a church. He rides a bicycle to his church five times a week. His little home is 10 miles from his church. Bus fares are cheap in Cuba, but too expensive for our Juan.

He is building a new church. He is doing this because the calling of God is heavy upon him. He doesn’t get paid more because he works more. He does it because of the love of God.

MANY JUANS

There are many Juans we have met in Cuba and elsewhere. There is our man in Guantanamo Bay, Pastor Navarro. Like our Juan he works with a tireless passion. He rides a bike when it works, but sometimes rides the antique bus that looks, as my old Aussie mum would say, “sorry for wear.”

We first met him when he travelled from Guantanamo Bay to Havana. This trip took 12 hours and it was done in the midst of a raging hurricane. He came to attend a special School of Evangelism that we conducted for all the Cuban pastors from right across the country. He had just completed his own series of evangelistic meetings and baptized 80 new souls. It was the privilege and honor of The Carter Report to pay for these meetings. This is why we exist and we are proud to help this fine Cuban pastor.

CONCRETE BLOCKS AND SOULS

We are helping our Juan with the construction of his church building. Really I should say, God’s Church building. It is being constructed of concrete blocks that hopefully will be resistant to hurricanes.

Our Juan, our sweet singer, is also our Juan the evangelist. He is preaching his heart out to his little congregation that is growing under his leadership. I am moved when I see that most of the people crowded inside the spartan building are young people.

WORTHY

These are people who are worthy of our support. They are a sample of a great number we have met in near and far-flung places. They give us hope to carry on. The place is so dangerous that we cannot tell you where it is. It is south of the border, way down past Mexico.

QUESTIONS ABOUT AMERICA, POLITICS, GUNS, MURDERS,
THE CHURCH, DONALD TRUMP, THE CIA, AND THE GOSPEL.

Susan Piraino puts her boss through the hoops, throws a few curve balls, and wonders if she will still have a job.

SP: Where do you see America going?
JC: One cannot visit Washington DC and see the monuments, museums, libraries, and institutions without an immense sense of pride.  The story of this nation is carved in stone and reflected in paintings and engravings.  It is a story of lofty ideals, courage, decency, and goodness.  There is no other place like it.  I am proud to be both Australian and American.  I consider it a privilege to live in the land of Abraham Lincoln.  Remember what George Washington the Father of the American Nation said, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

SP: But where do you see us going?
JC: The left-wing liberals have America by the throat.  They are undermining everything that is sacred.  They are at war against God’s Law.  The Right-wing religionists are also threatening the existence of the nation.  People in both groups seem to have no problem with lying, adultery, fornication, and every other sin. They are a shame and disgrace to America. Unless people turn to God in repentance, I see nothing but hell and destruction.

SP: Are you a Republican or a Democrat?
JC: Neither.  I will not be controlled by political parties.  I am fiercely independent.  I don’t want politicians thinking for me.

SP: How involved should Christians be in politics?
JC: On a personal level, you can do as you wish, if you maintain your integrity.  That’s a tough call.  Power tends to corrupt.  But one thing is sure:  the Church as an entity needs to stay out of politics.  Remember what happened when the Catholic Church controlled the State: millions were murdered by religious bigots.

SP: Do you own a gun?
JC: I was brought up in Australia around guns. Rifles, not pistols. We needed them to kill snakes and other dangerous creatures out in the bush where we lived. No one shot up the school or killed his neighbor. I believe in the Second Amendment.

SP: Why are there so many murders here in the USA?
JC: Because of the corruption of the human heart.  If people didn’t have guns, they would find other alternatives.  We have become a violent society, and Christ in the heart is the only real solution.  Violence is all around us.  The Godless liberals of Hollywood have poisoned the wells of society.  Their day is coming.

SP:  What do you think of Donald Trump?
JC: I am not involved in politics, thank God.  We are told to pray for kings and others who rule over us, so I believe we should pray for President Trump.  He certainly needs our prayers.

SP:  What about our CIA and torture?
JC: We need the good men and women of the CIA.  We also don’t need misguided individuals who advocate torture that is totally un-Christian and un-American.  You can’t follow Jesus and believe in torture.  Torture is what our enemies do; we hope we are better than they.

SP:  What about violence and the collapse of the family?
JC: I guess you are talking about the huge crime rate among a certain segment of our society where fathers have forsaken their children.  Thousands of young men here in the USA murder thousands of other young men every year.  The main reason is the collapse of the home, caused by males who know how to create life but who are totally irresponsible.  They get girls pregnant and move on.  Terrible sin!

SP:  What about Russia?  You have been there around 50 times!
JC: Russia is slipping back into the terrible days of the Soviet Union.  President Putin seems to be spoiling for war.  We live in a very dangerous world, and the confusion and chaos in Washington DC do not help matters.  The Carter Report has had one purpose in all our trips to Russia: to proclaim the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Never forget it, Jesus alone saves.

SP:  Is the Church doing a good job?
JC: The world would be far worse off without the Church.  But the Church can do much better.  In many places, it is a sleepy social club.  Oh, for preachers with tongues of fire!  God send us a thousand John Wesleys!

SP:  What is different about the Gospel you preach?
JC: It certainly is not different to the Gospel of the Bible.  But it is different to the cheap sugarcoated gospel of man-made religions.  I believe in preaching the whole Bible.  I am not out to please people.  I may be a small voice crying in the wilderness of these Latter Days, but hopefully I am a voice for truth and righteousness.  I do not live to please men or women. I live to please God.

SP:  Why do you get so little support from our Church organization?
JC: I get a lot of support.  The Carter Report doesn’t get any financial help from the Church organization, and that’s okay. But I have a stack of plaques, all inscribed with the nicest sentiments and compliments from church leaders.  These are hidden away in boxes and drawers.  I have had tremendous support wherever I have gone:  Central America, Russia, Ukraine, Africa, India, Cuba, to name but a few.  God has been so good to me.  I have received such an outpouring of love.  I am a happy man.

SP:  What are your plans?
JC: Beverley and I plan to keep on keeping on, to keep preaching Jesus and to save many lost souls.

“Charity starts at home,” my Mum taught me. By this she meant that we should show kindness firstly to those around us. My team and I have done our share of preaching and teaching in foreign lands.*  “When are you quitting?” folks sometimes ask me. “When the Lord tells me,” I reply.

But I also believe that charity (love) begins at home. I am thinking especially of America, Canada, Australia, and all other countries that once sent out missionaries to the Third World to save the lost for Christ.

Now the homeland countries need saving. I have lived in America for 32 years. America has been good to me. I love this land. I also love the land of my birth, Australia.

Great changes are taking place in these nations that once took the Gospel to the far-flung regions of the world. Now they too desperately need the Gospel of Jesus. Believe me.

Think of the crime and drugs here in America. Think of the suicides. Think of the opioid crisis. Think of our schools. Think of the deranged people who murder our kids with battlefield weapons. Think, if you will, of the moral state of our nation’s capital. Think of the out of control deficit —$20 trillion and counting. Does no one care?

Let me please tell you what we are doing to address these issues. We are producing TV programs designed specifically for our Homeland. Topics are Biblical, prophetic, relevant, and Christ-centered. New programs include: “The Coming Financial Earthquake,” and, “The Top Ten Reasons to Believe in God.” We are broadcasting in Washington DC, and on other powerful outlets across the nation.

Please, in God’s name, help us to reach the Homeland for Christ. Yes, God willing, we shall still run huge Gospel campaigns overseas. But now, let us practice what my Mum taught me, “Charity begins at home.” Please, for the love of God and country, let us light a Gospel fire.

01 MISSION

“What is the mission of The Carter Report?” is a question I must answer. Our mission is to save lost souls, proclaim the Gospel in the context of the Three Angels’ Messages, go to dangerous places when God calls, uplift the oppressed, and glorify the name of Jesus.

02 MESSAGE

Although El Salvador is a gang-infested country, we accepted the call without reservation. We rented the National Football Stadium and witnessed bigger crowds than attended their football finals. We uplifted Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is our message, our hope, our life, our joy and our salvation. We witnessed 55,000 souls in the stadium and 5,500 baptized. Our testimony is: Jesus saves, He is Lord. All glory to King Jesus.

03 EDUCATION

Education is important. A twisted system produces twisted people, a Christian system produces Christians. After the campaign you helped finance, we discovered the “forgotten children.” These were children whose parents were too poor to send them to our church school. These children were members of our church, but there was no money to educate them. Now with your support, we are sponsoring these beautiful children. These boys and girls are now being lifted from poverty and ignorance. You are helping to make this possible. Thank you. We plan by His grace and your help to double the number of children helped this year.
